What a season

So the last Major League Yankee game I went to before this season was in 2006. I don't remember it but apparently it was a doozy. The Yankees beat the Devil Rays 16-4 or something. I remember it being loud and I remember getting a lemonade but that's about it.

This season I went to three Yankees/Rays games and they were all probably the best games and most memorable Ive ever seen let alone been to. I'm going to summarize them all now.

The first game was on July 31 and it was the homerun derby game. The Rays scored and then Swisher hit a homerun. The Rays came back and then Teixeira hit a two run home run. The Rays tied it up again and made the score 3-3. Going into the top of the 9th MVP Robinson Cano hit a home run off Rafael Soriano and the rest is history.
Speaking of history, this was during the Alex Rodriguez chase for 600 and I was really hoping to see it. I didn't go to the game because I wanted to see it, it just happened that he hadn't hit 600 by the time this weekend series took place.

The next game was memorable for how awful it was. August 1st. CC Sabathia got the start against "Big Game James" unfortunately he lived up to his name here. I don't remember much of what the Yankees did or didn't do offensively(they got shutout 3-0) This was the game I was really looking forward to. We had 1st base side seats and I was excited to Teixeira and his awesome glovework but boy was I surprised when new acquisition Lance Berkman got the call for first. I think we all remember what happened next. It was just awful and if you watched it on TV you were lucky because you could turn it off. I just had to sit there and, oh man...it was not good at all. Alex came in to pinch hit later in the game but he didn't hit 600 that weekend.

The final game I went to this season was by far the best. September 14. Ivan Nova got the start and I was really excited to see him and for the first 4 innings all went well. We had been so horrible the week before and even got swept in Texas and the first game in the Yankees/Rays series was decided by an 0-1 walk off win. In this game we were just racking up the runs. Not sure the innings but I got to see Cano and Rodriguez hit home runs(finally right?) The game started unraveling and before I could blink my eyes we were down 7-6. I was not ready to give up on this game and MVP Cano came through again with an RBI base hit to tie it up at 7-7. Granderson made an awesome diving grab in the bottom of the 9th that pretty much everyone in the stadium thought was a home run(I missed it because everyone stood up thinking walk-off) And then my boy Jorge Posada, in his pinch hit at-bat hit a monster shot off the batters eye restaurant to take the score to 8-7. What came next was just some guy named Greg Golson throwing an absolute rocket to Alex Rodriguez to get Carl Crawford out on a double play at 3rd base.

Now didn't I tell you I went to some of the best(and worst) Yankee games this season? I cannot wait to see what next season has in store for me. The Yankees are playing the Rays in Tampa on my birthday next season and you can bet Ill be there.
